There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.

As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredible detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many hateful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.

The next morning, the hunter awoke — he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.

Even those who are not religious babble “they are now in heaven watching down” when some one dies. In all honestly we all really fantasize about the after-life. Some are to afraid to admit that there is something else bigger than ourselves. Sadly, their self-glorification stops them from admitting it. No one wants to accept being inferior.

Why is it that right before you go to bed you think uncontrollably? Tonight I was thinking, we humans are kind of like machines, well products. We are all consisted of the same parts, two legs, two eyes, a brain, a mouth, etc. (excusing those with abnormalities, though every product is bound to have a defect) Yet not one person is like the other, sure there are similarities but no one is exactly the same. We think differently and act differently, but how is it that we are made by the same parts, and fueled with the same blood but are different? What exactly is the “ingredient” that segregates us from each other?

How many times have you’ve been a place like this? Not even in the comfort of your home, your bed can you find peace. Your body is emotionally and physically exhausted from searching for answers but you always come back empty handed. There goes your will to be.
